During these three weeks, we plan on writing about our experiences and publishing them on this blog. We see this as a way to capture memories and report to the homefront in the meantime. I hope the regular readers who come here for technical content, won't be dissapointed.
Usually our holidays are well (or over) prepared. This time we took another approach, we already fixed our route and booked our hotels, but we haven't determined yet what to go see at each location.
For most locations, we wrote down some points of interests though. I know a lot of people who visit this blog are American, so I'm hoping you can add to those or disfavor some of them.
So far, our schedule looks like this.
San Francisco (3 days)
- Pier 39
- Alcatrez Island
- Lombard Street
- Golden Gate Bridge
- China Town
- Alamo Square
- Valley Visitor Center
- Yosemite Falls
- Mount Carnal Highway
- Canyon Scenic Drive
- Glen Canyon Dam
- Wahweap bay
- Hermit Road
- Shooting range
- Hoover Dam
- Knott's Berry Farm
- Hollywood (Star Walk)
- Universal Studios
- Laguna Beach
Be careful in Hollywood. That's not a great neighborhood, if you know what I'm saying.
ReplyDeleteDepends on what you're looking for? ;)
ReplyDeleteI did a 4 week road trip there last year too.
ReplyDeleteIt's such an amazing country!
A small tip for Lake Powell: if you want to go for a nice swim, turn right just before the Glen Canyon dam. There is a nice place to refresh yourself in beautiful water between some amazing rocks!
Also fun: attend a baseball match somewhere (I went to the San Francisco Giants)
You can also drive ont the Golden Gate Bridge by bike!
If you want some good normal food instead of fast food, you can go to Denny's.
If you're at Zion National Park, take few hours to hike up to Angel's Landing. It was one of the highlights of our trip 3 years ago: http://goo.gl/XVw5n
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips Sven and Koen!
ReplyDeleteIn SF, you have to check out the Italian North Beach area incl. famous City Light Bookstore (home of the beatniks). Cool bar next door as well:
